These pigeons facinate me! They have been there for as long as I can remember. Here is the thing though. There are 4 identical structures at this intersection, one for each direction, and yet they sit only on this one! I have seen them sit "chhek by jowel" or wing to wing, perhaps 100 strong, with the other traffic lights being empty. To add insult to my curious injury, the next intersection in any direction is 400 yds away.....you guessed it, not one damn bird! PLEASE tell me, what is it about this light pole that attracts them. Any "bird specialists" out there?
Frank, thanks for the comment. It is really fascinating. And you'd think the seagull wouldn't wanna hang with the pigeons and go sit in a different place, but there it is on top the street light.
